Google Data Studio has recently launched a range of new custom visualizations called Partner Visualizations.
When you click “Community Chart” you will see four community visualizations, as shown below.
If you click “+ Explore more” you will see 22 new Partner Visualizations are available to use!
You can check them out yourselves, and below I’ll feature some of the new Community Visualizations I’ve taken a look at.
Please note that you will need to go into your Data Source and make sure that Community visualizations access is switched on.
Without confirming this for your data source you will not be able to use these great visualizations.
This chart from ClickInsight is really nice and easy to customize. You can choose several metrics and one dimension.
Below I have various Google Analytics metrics creating a pentagon shape with the different continents being the dimension.
Below is a radar chart with just three metrics and the dimension has been changed to device category. So it becomes a triangle instead of a pentagon.
This chart from r42 Communications is a nice elegant way of showing how two dimensions related to each other.
Here I used Device Category and Default Channel Grouping data from Google Analytics.
Below is a gif showing how you can interact with the Sun Burst chart.
Word Cloud chart (Vega)
Another cool new visualization is a ‘word cloud’ chart that displays the dimensions as words. It is called ‘Vega/Vega-Lite’ and was created by Jerry Chen.
Below I have a chart that shows all the different Sources of sessions. I then use a standard filter to filter by default Channel Grouping. You can see that the word cloud adjusts based on which Channel is selected.
Animated Bar Chart
This animated bar chart from Analytics Buddy can show changes over time.
Below it shows the changes in the number of sessions by channel grouping over time.
This has just been a quick overview of some new charts. I hope you found it useful and go and check out these amazing Partner Visualizations in Data Studio!
The Metric Funnel from PowerMyAnalytics is a great way to create some sales funnel charts.
This is perfect for creating Ecommerce sales funnel charts, and anything else that needs to show the drop off of website visitors.
The Gauge chart from Google Data Studio is a simple but fun visualization.
Below is an example of how you can switch between different metrics and the gauge chat changes.
This Chord Diagram from Email Meter is nice and colourful.
Below is an example showing Device Category by default Channel Grouping. Below I filter by Country to show how the Chord Diagram changes based on the data.
