Creating movie concept art using ChatGPT and Midjourney

I wanted to experiment with how ChatGPT and Midjourney could be combined to flesh out movie plots and concept art.

For those unfamiliar, ChatGPT is a tool that allows you to write a prompt and generate text based on what you requested. It describes itself as “an AI language model developed by OpenAI that is capable of generating human-like responses to a wide range of text-based inputs. ChatGPT uses deep learning techniques to analyze large amounts of text data, allowing it to generate natural-sounding language that can be used in a variety of applications, including chatbots, virtual assistants, and more.”

Midjourney is an independent research lab that produces an artificial intelligence program under the same name that creates images from textual descriptions, similar to OpenAI’s DALL-E and Stable Diffusion.

Using ChatGPT and Midjourney together can be quite fun, and hopefully this post gives an example of how you can use them together for projects.

Creating the movie synopsis using ChatGPT

I had a vague idea about “Vampires in the Karoo”. Below is a screenshot of showing the prompt I submitted to ChatGPT and below is the synopsis it provided.

Title: Drought of Blood

The movie follows three South African photojournalists – Liam, Sindi, and Jabu – who are sent to the Karoo region to document the effects of a severe drought. As they make their way through the arid and unforgiving landscape, they begin to notice strange and unsettling occurrences.

One evening, while camping in the middle of nowhere, they stumble upon an abandoned village. The buildings are crumbling, the streets are empty, and a sense of dread hangs in the air.

As they explore the village, they discover a hidden underground chamber. Inside, they find evidence of a coven of ancient vampires that have been living in the area for centuries.

Initially, the journalists are skeptical, believing that they have stumbled upon an elaborate hoax. However, as they continue to investigate, they begin to experience strange and terrifying phenomena. They hear strange whispers in the night, their equipment starts to malfunction, and they are plagued by nightmares.

One of the journalists, Jabu, is bitten by one of the vampires and slowly starts to succumb to their curse. The other two journalists realize that they must find a way to destroy the coven before they become victims themselves.

As they delve deeper into the mystery of the vampire coven, they uncover a dark and twisted history. They learn that the coven has been preying on the locals for centuries, and that the drought has made them more desperate and dangerous than ever before. The journalists soon realize that they are in a race against time to stop the vampires before they spread their curse beyond the Karoo.

The climax of the movie takes place in a showdown between the journalists and the coven. With the help of a local guide, they manage to destroy the vampires and end their reign of terror. However, the experience has left them scarred and changed forever, haunted by the horrors they have witnessed.

In the end, Drought of Blood is a spine-tingling horror movie that combines elements of suspense, mystery, and gore. It offers a fresh take on the vampire genre, set against the backdrop of a desolate and unforgiving landscape.

Certainly!

As the three photojournalists delve deeper into the mystery of the vampire coven, they begin to uncover a dark and twisted history that stretches back centuries. They discover that the coven has been preying on the locals of the Karoo for generations, feasting on their blood and spreading their curse.

As they talk to the locals, they learn that the vampires have always been a part of the folklore and superstitions of the region. However, they also discover that the drought has made the vampires more desperate and dangerous than ever before. With their usual prey scarce, the vampires have started to venture further afield in search of new victims, and their attacks have become more frequent and more violent.

The journalists soon realize that they are in a race against time to stop the vampires before they spread their curse beyond the Karoo. They know that if the vampires manage to escape into the wider world, they could cause untold chaos and destruction.

As they continue their investigation, they come across a number of clues and leads that lead them closer to the heart of the vampire coven. They also encounter a number of obstacles and challenges, including run-ins with the vampires themselves, who are determined to stop the journalists from exposing their existence.

Eventually, the journalists manage to gather enough evidence to confront the vampires and put an end to their reign of terror. However, they know that the experience has left them forever changed, haunted by the horrors they have witnessed and the knowledge that such evil can exist in the world.
