I wanted to experiment with how ChatGPT and Midjourney could be combined to flesh out movie plots and concept art.

For those unfamiliar, ChatGPT is a tool that allows you to write a prompt and generate text based on what you requested. It describes itself as “an AI language model developed by OpenAI that is capable of generating human-like responses to a wide range of text-based inputs. ChatGPT uses deep learning techniques to analyze large amounts of text data, allowing it to generate natural-sounding language that can be used in a variety of applications, including chatbots, virtual assistants, and more.”

Midjourney is an independent research lab that produces an artificial intelligence program under the same name that creates images from textual descriptions, similar to OpenAI’s DALL-E and Stable Diffusion.

Using ChatGPT and Midjourney together can be quite fun, and hopefully this post gives an example of how you can use them together for projects.

Creating the movie synopsis using ChatGPT

I had a vague idea about “Vampires in the Karoo”. Below is a screenshot of showing the prompt I submitted to ChatGPT and below is the synopsis it provided.

Title: Drought of Blood

The movie follows three South African photojournalists – Liam, Sindi, and Jabu – who are sent to the Karoo region to document the effects of a severe drought. As they make their way through the arid and unforgiving landscape, they begin to notice strange and unsettling occurrences.
