Comparing Canadian and South African Provinces
In this post I wanted to share a Google Data Studio report about comparing Canadian and South African Provinces. It shows various measures such as population, GDP and area.
The data is all from Wikipedia.
How to use the Google Data Studio report
You can use the Optional Metrics button in the top right hand corner to adjust which metric is displayed.
You can also adjust which metric is displayed on the geo maps of Canada and South Africa.
Differences between Canadian and South African provinces
If we compare the various provinces in both Canada and South Africa we see some big differences fairly quickly.
The chart below shows GDP per capita. We can see that most Canadian provinces have a much higher GDP per capita rate than South African provinces. This may have a lot to do with the higher value of the Canadian dollar compared to the South African rand.
The chart below shows Homicides per 100,000 inhabitants. This is not surprising as South Africa has one of the highest murder rates in the world.
The chart below shows the population density of the various provinces. We immediately see that Gauteng is incredibly densely populated compared with any of the other provinces.
I hope you found this article about comparing Canadian and South African Provinces interesting and maybe useful!
